Who we are

Doteira Games Inc. ("Doteira Games", "we", "us") is an independent board game publisher based in British Columbia, Canada. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Our Privacy Officer is accountable for how we handle it and can be reached at contact@doteiragames.com.

Information we collect

When you place an order

Your name, email address, shipping and billing addresses, phone number if you provide it, the items you order, and your order and support history. Payments are processed by PayPal and Stripe. We receive confirmation of your payment and limited details such as the payment method type, but we never receive or store your full card number.

When you back one of our games

If you back a campaign on a crowdfunding or pledge platform such as Gamefound, Kickstarter or BackerKit, that platform shares the details we need to deliver your reward, such as your name, email, shipping address and what you pledged for. Each platform's own privacy policy also applies to information you give it.

When you join our newsletter

Your email address and a record of your consent. We use double opt-in, so you are only subscribed after you confirm by email.

When you contact us

Whatever you include in your message, along with your email address and our reply.

When you browse the site

Our site is hosted by Wix, which collects standard technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed and referring site, and uses cookies to run the site and the store and to give us aggregated visit statistics. To show prices and shipping options for your region, our shop estimates your country from your IP address using a small service hosted by Cloudflare, and remembers the result in your browser for that visit. We do not use this to identify you.

How we use your information

• To process, ship and support your orders and pledges, including order and shipping emails.
• To answer your questions and handle returns, replacements and refunds.
• To send our newsletter, only if you have subscribed. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link.
• To run, secure and improve our website and store, including preventing fraud.
• To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Legal bases (UK and EU visitors)

Where the UK or EU General Data Protection Regulation applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (to fulfil your order or pledge); your consent (for the newsletter, which you can withdraw at any time); our legitimate interests (to run, secure and improve our site and support customers); and legal obligation (for tax and accounting records).

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers that help us run Doteira Games, and only what each one needs:

• Wix: website hosting, online store, forms and email.
• PayPal and Stripe: payment processing.
• Printful: producing and shipping apparel orders.
• Fulfilment partners and carriers, such as regional warehouses, FedEx and postal services: storing and delivering your order.
• Cloudflare: estimating your country for regional prices and shipping.
• Crowdfunding and pledge platforms, when you back a campaign.
• Professional advisors, such as our accountant, and authorities where the law requires it.

If Doteira Games is ever involved in a merger, sale or reorganisation, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, under this policy's protections.

International transfers

We are based in Canada, and several of our providers store or process information in the United States and other countries. When information leaves your country, the laws of those countries may apply. We choose providers that protect personal information with appropriate safeguards, such as the standard contractual clauses recognised under the UK and EU GDPR.

How long we keep it

We keep order and pledge records for as long as we need them to fulfil and support your order and to meet tax and accounting requirements, which in Canada is generally six years. Newsletter information is kept until you unsubscribe. Support messages are kept as long as needed to resolve your request and any follow-up.

Cookies

Wix uses essential cookies to run the site and store (for example, to keep your cart) and analytics cookies to give us aggregated statistics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some store features may not work without them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, receive a copy of it, object to or restrict certain uses, and withdraw consent at any time. To make a request, email contact@doteiragames.com. We may need to verify your identity, and we will reply within the time the law requires. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, the UK Information Commissioner's Office, or your local data protection authority in the EU.

Security

We use reputable providers and limit access to personal information to the people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Children

Our website and store are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under 16 in the UK and EU. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services change. We will post the new version here with a new "Last updated" date and, for significant changes, let customers know by email.
